Gender Equality Scheme 2010-2013

Under the 2006 Equality Act, we have a duty to produce a Gender Equality Scheme. This Draft Gender Equality Scheme 2010-2013 is based on the best evidence available, was developed in consultation with our partners, residents and staff to elicit the broadest possible views and influence. It sets out how we will:

  • Ensure that people are not discriminated against, directly or indirectly, or experience harassment as a result of their gender;
  • Promote equal opportunities for people regardless of gender in the delivery of our services, employment of our staff, our procurement function as well as our work in partnership.

The scheme contains a three year action plan of how we intend to improve our services and facilities.

Race Equality Scheme - currently being reviewed

Mid Suffolk District Council has been working extensively over the past year, with partners and stakeholders, reviewing and updating our equality schemes fro disability, gender and race.

Having gathered evidence from a wide range of sources we have identified potential race equality objectives for the next scheme.  We have been consulting with staff and looking at community consultation to establish race equality objectives prior to developing our action plan.

The review of race equality work to date shows that significant progress has been made in a number of areas: equality impact assessment, training and awareness raising, equality mapping and equality monitoring included.

We will shortly be consulting on our objectives with you.  Please visit back here to take part in the consultation or look on our homepage during September.
