Mid Suffolk District Council is
required to maintain public registers containing various
information relating to part IIA of the Environmental Protection
Act 1990.
The matters listed at section 78R(1)
of the Act, to be contained on the register are:
a. remediation notices served
by the enforcing authority;
b. appeals against remediation
notices;
c. remediation statements or
remediation declarations under section 78H;
d. appeals against charging
notices;
e. notices by the local
authority effecting designation of land as a special site;
f. notices of the Secretary of
State effecting designation of land as a special site;
g. notices terminating the
designation of land as a special site;
h. notifications of what has
been done by way of remediation by a person served with a
remediation notice or who is required to publish a remediation
statement;
j. notification given by owners
or occupiers of what has been done on land by way of
remediation;
k. convictions for prescribed
offences; and
l. any other matters relating
to contaminated land prescribed by the Secretary of State.
There are no current entries
on the Contaminated Land Register, however, it is possible
to make a request for any environmental information the Council
holds about a particular site. This is a chargeable service,
the fee for which is listed in the Environmental Health Fees and Charges
document.
