With autumn already here and the nights pulling in, officers
from Mid Suffolk are offering evening talks in October and November
to offer inspiration on those dark nights.
The first evening session “Apples and Orchards of Suffolk” is
being run on Thursday 16 October. The talk will celebrate and
discover more about local apples and orchards. Special guest
speakers are George Hodgkinson and Martin Skipper from the East of
England Apples and Orchards Project (EEAOP). They will share
information about apples, orchards and the work of the EEAOP and
will bring along local apples and apple juice to taste.
The second evening session, which is being run on Thursday 13
November, will look at an amazing array of creatures that once
roamed across Suffolk. Special guest speaker, Bob Markham will give
a fascinating geological insight into the local area and the
creatures that you may have encountered in times gone by. Many
artefacts and clues to the past have been found in the sands and
gravels of the Gipping Valley.
The November session will be the last in the series for 2008 but
look out for more in 2009.
Evening Inspiration talks run from 7pm-9pm in the Lecture
Theatre at Mid Suffolk District Council Offices in Needham Market.
Admission for adults is £2.50 and for concessions it is £1.50.
Booking is essential as these talks have been very popular so
don’t delay.
