Not in my neighbourhood day

Residents in The Twinnings, Stowmarket will benefit from a ‘cleaner, greener and safer’ environment after officers from Mid Suffolk District Council and Suffolk Police target the area on Wednesday 20 August.

The ‘Not in my neighbourhood day’ is designed to make residents in an area feel safer and gives them the opportunity to talk with officers from both authorities on issues that concern them.

On the day, Suffolk Police will have their ‘Police Pod’ on hand to encourage residents to go and talk with members of the Stowmarket Safer Neighbourhood Teams to discuss issues on crime and safety. A team from the Domestic Violence Unit will also be on hand to talk with residents.

Other events taking place on the day include:

  • Two mediation sessions have also been arranged, one in the morning and one in the evening, to work with neighbours on recent disputes
  • Officers from Mid Suffolk will be on hand to give Housing Advice and to discuss rent payments for council tenants
  • Members of the Tenants Forum will be attending to give advice about resident involvement and participation
  • Officers from Environmental Health will talk with residents on key concerns such as noise and dog mess
  • The Recycling Team will also be showing residents how to recycle and providing activities for children
  • Officers from Environment and Waste will also be clearing rubbish and bulky items from gardens

Acting Inspector Jane Hertzog added; “By joining together with our partners at Mid Suffolk, we can make a real impact on the quality of life of residents of The Twinnings. Stowmarket’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams regularly meet with and speak to people in the town to find out their concerns and work to tackle issues with our partners, and anyone who isn’t able to speak to an officer on the day is encouraged to contact the teams at the police station or through our website at www.safersuffolk.org.uk
