Sound artist Holly Rumble aims to hit the right note in an
exciting event planned for Stowmarket.
The old Corn Exchange, situated in the heart of Stowmarket, is
playing host to an evolving sound-art installation specifically
commissioned for the town’s new arts festival.
The event, which takes place on Thursday 3rd June, features
Norwich based sound and live performance artist, Holly Rumble.
Holly has been working with Mid Suffolk District Council Arts
service to come up with an innovative event, to help explore and
celebrate the beautiful space inside the old corn exchange, and to
highlight exciting plans for the building to be developed into the
new John Peel Centre for Creative Arts.
Holly will be attempting to find the harmonics in the room, with
a series of lo-tech, old-school physics experiments and a little
bit of singing. Members of the public are invited to wander around
the space at their leisure from 7.30pm-10pm using their voice and
ears to sing (or hum) a note or two and hear for themselves what
sounds can be made - proving that even a tiny, quietly-sung note at
the right frequency will reverberate and alter ones perception of
the space.
The event will be running for one night only and is free to
attend. For further information please contact Mid Suffolk ARTS on
