Core Strategy

Mid Suffolk’s Core Strategy has been found ‘sound’ and it has been adopted.

The Inspector’s report into the ‘soundness’ of Mid Suffolk’s Core Strategy was received on 27th August 2008. With a series of minor changes the Inspector has found the Mid Suffolk Core Strategy to be ‘sound’. The amendments have been incorporated into the Core Strategy and were adopted at Full Council on 4th September 2008.

The Core Strategy is now an adopted planning policy document and will be used in the determination of planning applications.

Background

The Core Strategy sets out the vision and strategic spatial objectives for the spatial development of the District.  The Core Strategy is a Development Plan Document and as such is part of the Development Plan for the District and is one of the documents that makes up Mid Suffolk's Local Development Framework (LDF).

Mid Suffolk's Core Strategy was submitted to Government in order for it to be 'Examined'. The Secretary of State appointed Mr Robert Yuille MSc DipTP MRTPI of the Planning Inspectorate to conduct the Examination, which opened on Thursday 29th May 2008 and ended on Wednesday 11th June 2008.
