The first step

Finding out if permission is required should be the first part of any development. In some cases the work you are thinking of carrying out may fall under what is called "Permitted Development". In such cases certain development is allowed without needing Planning Permission.

• Guide For Householders (Visual Tool) use this visual tool as a rough guide to what is permitted development on dwelling houses.
• Antenna Guide (Visual Tool) this tool provides a guide to where antenna, ariels etc, can be placed without requiring planning permission. Owners of Listed Buildings should always contact the Planning Department as different rules apply.
