This allows applicants who are unhappy
with the Local Planning Authority’s (LPA) decision, or the fact
that the LPA has failed to make a determination within the required
period, on their planning application the opportunity to
appeal.
The appeal is not handled by the Local
planning department but by an organisation called
“The Planning Inspectorate”
The Right of Appeal
You can appeal under a variety of
circumstances, these are detailed in the booklet
“Making your Planning Appeal”. However there
is no third party right of appeal. For instance a member of the
public cannot appeal against a decision taken on someone else’s
planning application.
Appeals are not dealt with by the
Local Planning Authority, if you decide to make an appeal you
should fill out an Appeal Form, which are available from
