High Hedges

“Part 8 of the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003, which gives local authorities powers to deal with complaints about high hedges came into operation in England on 1 June 2005.”

From the 1st June 2005 you have been able to make a complaint about a neighbours hedge to Mid Suffolk District Council. Before making any complaint we strongly suggest that you read the leaflet entitled “High Hedges: complaining to the council” this is available from the ODPM website. We have also requested further stocks be delivered to us so that we can make them available to you within our reception area.

Mid Suffolk District Council have created procedures and protocols to help us deal with these complaints but it is important for you to know what you can and cannot expect from the council if bringing a complaint about a hedge to us.

To help with this we have provided the link below that will take you another website on which further information is available

www.odpm.gov.uk/treesandhedges - this is the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister website on which you can access lots of useful information on the issues of High Hedges and also further information on the legislation.
