Fixed penalty notices

The Clean Neighbourhoods & Environment Act 2005 provides Local Authorities with additional powers to issue fixed penalty notices (FPN’s) to help tackle environmental crime and anti-social behaviour.

MSDC are committed to providing clean, safe, streets and public spaces. We share concerns of the general public that attitudes and behaviour towards the local environment must change. To help tackle this issue we have fully trained enforcement staff working in partnership with all Suffolk LA’s to ensure a consistent approach is adopted.

MSDC believe that FPN’s should be used as part of a wider enforcement strategy designed to target all aspects of environmental crime. We will only issue FPN’s where there is sufficient evidence to support a prosecution and we will pursue any unpaid notices.
