Stowmarket is the largest town within
the district and the focus for future housing growth. Mid Suffolk
District Council has commissioned reports to help it identify ways
to ensure the town has adequate local facilities, a strong sense of
community and employment opportunities in the future.
During September and October of this
year, Mid Suffolk District Council began a major review of the town
and its neighbouring villages. The area was last reviewed in 2001,
when the Civic Trust unveiled its Vision for Stowmarket, a report
containing recommendations that have been used as a basis for many
actions since.
However, the town is constantly
changing and, with increased development, there are now many
choices to be made on the future of Stowmarket and the way the
sites in the town are to be developed.
Where are we up to?
Consultation began in September 2007
and a series of
reports
were published.
The draft Masterplan is now
under-going a period of public consultation prior to being adopted.
