Mid-Suffolk District Council has commissioned Core
Connections to lead the preparation of the new Masterplan and
environmental capacity plan, encompassing the town and the areas of
Stowupland, Combs Ford and Onehouse.
The new Stowmarket Masterplan will be a framework document that
proposes an integrated strategy for the social, economic and
physical renewal of the area. It is not a detailed blueprint for
development but, rather, an overview. The document will cover
issues affecting the development of the area, including land use,
housing, transport, employment, economic success and community
facilities.
The document will feed into the Local Development Framework for
Mid-Suffolk, a set of documents that will guide planning and
development in the area going forward.
The draft Masterplan is undergoing a final round of public
consultation before being formally adopted. Please let us know what
you think of the proposals. You can download both the Masterplan In
Brief and the full Masterplan for Stowmarket here:

Previous reports
To inform debate, Core Connections produced the report Where We
Are Now in Sept 2007, which set out the changes to the town
that have been made since the Civic Trust report in 2001/2002 and
suggested areas for consideration in the Masterplan.
Where We Are Now
In November 2007, Core Connections
published a report on the consultation that took place in
September last year.
Consultation Report – Stowmarket Masterplan
Donaldsons Chartered Surveyors, in association with the Civic
Trust, was instructed by Mid Suffolk District Council in March 2003
to provide a review of Stowmarket Town Centre. This report sets out
the key findings from the study, together with supporting
information and recommendations on the action plan and way
forward.
