Access to Information

Mid Suffolk District Council is committed to being open and transparent with the information it holds and being compliant with the Data Protection Act, beyond what is mandated by Central Government.  Mid Suffolk District Council wants to provide citizens the opportunity to view and access information about their Council and the area their live in.  Hopefully this will be informative and/or useful whether as a citizen, a community group or business.

There are two types of information we are providing:

  • The Transparency Agenda – this is a mandatory list of information that Central Government has set for Local Authorities to release for the citizens
  • Open Data – this is information that Mid Suffolk District Council has decided to release in the belief that it will be useful and/or helpful to the citizens, community groups and businesses etc.

Transparency code

This year Central Government has made it mandatory for Councils to publish certain specific information.  This is available to view online here.

The information has been put into 16 sections.  The table below lists both the mandatory list of information that must be published as well as a list of additional information that is only recommended to publish.  Some of the sections do not have additional information.  As Mid Suffolk District Council is committed to being open and transparent we are, where possible, publishing both sets of information.

If you would like further information on the transparency agenda please go to the Government Website here.

Open information

Mid Suffolk District Council wants to be open and transparent with the citizens of the district, therefore there are additional information sets that we thought it would be beneficial for the public to be able to access. There are two parts to this section; information most frequently requested under Freedom of Information and includes the publication scheme.  Further information sets will be added to the table as they become available.

The second part is a County wide project which is currently under way, where we are working with other Suffolk Districts and Boroughs to release further datasets to provide useful and informative information.  This will be the same information across the 7 Districts/Boroughs.  We are working with businesses and communities to ensure that the information that is being released is useful and helpful so that it will be beneficial for the citizens of the District.  If there are any information sets that are not listed but you would like to see please contact transparencyopendata@midsuffolk.gov.uk
