On the 12 April 2017, Cllr Elizabeth Gibson-Harries, Chairman of Mid Suffolk District Council presented a cheque for £1,594.65 to Peter Sefton Smalley from the East Anglian Air Ambulance at their Hangar in Norwich.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance is one of two charities chosen by Cllr Gibson-Harries for her 2016/17 term of office as Chairman for Mid Suffolk District Council.  During a year of fundraising activities, which included a Christmas raffle, a Black Tie Dinner and a charity auction and fun day at the Mid Suffolk Light Railway, a total of £3.189.30 was raised and has been divided equally between Home Start Mid Suffolk and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Cllr Gibson-Harries said, “During my year as Chairman for Mid Suffolk District Council, I have been overwhelmed with the support and generosity of all those who have helped me in my fundraising efforts. Due to their kindness, I am absolutely delighted to make this donation to the East Anglian Air Ambulance which will go towards helping to keep them airborne and able to continue their hugely valuable and vital lifesaving work”

Peter Sefton Smalley, Senior Operations Administrator for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said, “We are delighted to receive the generous donation of £1,594.65 thank to Cllr Elizabeth Gibson Harries choosing East Anglian Air Ambulance as her charity.  With every hour of flying time costing on average £200 in fuel, this donation will go a long way towards keeping our helicopters in the sky.  We need to raise over £11.2 million this year to continue with our life changing service and are reliant on the generous support from the community to help us achieve this.”
