Statement of Licensing Principles Notice

GAMBLING ACT 2005: ‘STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES’ NOTICE OF REVISED DOCUMENT

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils have now adopted their respective ‘statement of principles’ document as required by the Gambling Act 2005. Both documents have been subject to a full period of consultation with stakeholders and the general public between 31 August 2018 and 12 October 2018.

Following some agreed revisions in response to consultee feedback, the document for each respective Council were approved for publication at a meeting of Babergh District Council on 18 December 2018 and at the meeting of Mid Suffolk District Council on 19 December 2018. Both Council’s document are now published to take effect for a three-year period from 31 January 2019 (unless revised sooner).

The document covers the higher-level principles for each Council’s Licensing Authority, and they will be guided by the document when dispensing their functions under the 2005 Act. The document will not stand alone, and will be applied alongside statutory Gambling Commission guidance and the requirements of the Act and Regulations.

These documents are available to view in hard copy from the Council’s Customer Access Points in both Stowmarket and Sudbury in the districts.
