Cllr Barry Gasper, Chairman of Babergh District Council, has presented a cheque for £861.20 to the Bumblebee Children’s Charity.
The Bumblebee Children’s Charity, based in Sproughton in Cllr Gasper’s Brook ward, is a specialist centre for children who have difficulties with movement and co-ordination. Working with the child and their parents, the charity use equipment, toys and songs to make task enjoyable and ensure both parent and child are involved together in the learning process.
When Cllr Gasper was elected Chairman of Babergh District Council in May 2018 he selected the Bumblebee Children’s Charity as the Chairman’s Charity for the year, fundraising for them through his word as Chairman.
Cllr Barry Gasper, Chairman of Babergh District Council, said: “The incredible work the Bumblebee Children’s Charity has done over the past few years made supporting them as Chairman an easy choice: they’ve provided love and support to many families and children, and I am delighted to be able to present this money to help them continue to do so. Thank you to everyone who has supported my fundraising activities, and has helped support so remarkable a charity.”
William Peterson, Trustee of the Bumblebee Children’s Charity, said: “The Bumblebee Children's Charity are extremely grateful for this kind and generous donation raised at the Charity Civic Reception, having been selected as the beneficiary charity by the Chairman, Barry Gasper. As an independent, privately funded Charity, Bumblebee relies wholly on donations of this kind to support pre-school children with a wide range of physical disabilities, and their families."
"This money will make a real difference and the Civic Reception helped to raise our profile locally', said Alison Stoneham, the Charity Principle.
