Exciting careers event coming to Sudbury

Posted by Communications on 5 April 2022 | Comments

This month will see the start of the 2022 Careeriosity programme, with students in and around Sudbury being invited to find out what career opportunities are available in the film and television sector at an exciting event by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils and Screen Suffolk.

The free event, taking place on Wednesday 20 April (10am-12pm) at the Quay Theatre, is open to people aged 13-24 years and is being led by industry experts from Screen Suffolk who will be demonstrating the huge variety of career opportunities available.

During the event, students with an interest in the film industry will be finding out how film and television production is growing across the county, bringing with it a vast range of interesting roles from directors to location scouts and finance to make up artists.

Jim Horsfield, Screen Suffolk, said:

“There is always a buzz about working in the film and television industry but many people don’t realise quite how many different jobs there are. Our event will showcase everything from camera work to set design and how to get into careers in this exciting sector.”

The event is part of Careeriosity, a skills and education initiative led by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, which aims to inform young people about the fantastic and varied range of jobs available in Suffolk and how to access them. The first Careeriosity event took place in Stowmarket over the October 2021 half term and welcomed over 100 visitors to 9 events.

Cllr Michael Holt, cabinet member for economic development, commented:

“I am delighted to bring our Careeriosity programme to Sudbury and share the exciting career opportunities that are available to young people in the district. We have lots of creative and innovative businesses in our town and across our district which are creating varied employment pathways in a range of industries and sectors, and it is important that we highlight the many and varied career paths available.”

The Screen Suffolk event is free to attend but places must be booked by visiting the Careeriosity website.
