Exciting plans for the development of a £600,000 visitor centre/cafe at Needham Lake are moving forward.
Blueprints are being developed to create a high quality and environmentally sustainable building that will include a café and new public convenience facilities, at the most visited free attraction in the East of England in 2018 (Visit England).
Plans for the new building complement the rural nature of the wider Needham Lake and the new facility will create a venue that aims to boost the number of visitors to the lake each year, supporting the local economy and encouraging more people to enjoy a range of outdoor leisure pursuits.
Cllr Julie Flatman Mid Suffolk District Council’s Cabinet Member for communities and Housing, said:
“The lake is a wonderful attraction and we want more people to be able to enjoy it. We are pleased to be able to share our plans for this new centre at Needham Lake with local residents and business, it is important that this project reflects the view of the community and I encourage everyone to come along and have their say, to help enhance the facilities and build on the reputation that the Lake already has.
Residents will have the chance to see the exciting plans for the Needham Lake Visitor Centre on Thursday 10 October, 4pm – 7pm in the Burton Room, Needham Market Community Centre, School Street, Needham Market IP6 8BB.
We are also seeking a high quality, innovative tenant to manage the new facility and invite any interested groups, organisations or business to contact Andrew Brooker, Interim Estate Surveyor for more information.
