Half term activities coming to Babergh and Mid Suffolk
A week of exciting activities for children and young people are coming to Babergh and Mid Suffolk this half term.
Activities like fencing classes and contemporary dance lessons are on offer from Saturday 27 May, as well as the usual opportunities to visit the district’s swimming pools and take part in football camps.
Pools at Kingfisher Leisure Centre in Sudbury, Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre in Stowmarket, Hadleigh Pool & Leisure and Stradbroke Swim & Fitness Centre will be open for the holidays, with children who receive free school meals eligible to swim for free.
The ever-popular family park cooking sessions are back, with leisure provider Abbeycroft Leisure teaching kids and parents how to cook in Sudbury, Woolpit and Stowmarket. The sessions also come with a box of ingredients and recipes to provide a family with a week of new and exciting dinners. Young people in Hadleigh can try some cooking and baking among other activities at Inspire Suffolk’s youth holiday clubs too.
Kid’s clubs and camps are also running in Stowupland, Brantham and Sudbury. Activities and age ranges vary between providers, with football, dancing, painting, arts and crafts and gymnastics all on offer.
Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils fund a number of these activities so that children who receive free school meals and a number of other families can attend these sessions for free, or at reduced cost.
A Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council spokesperson said:
We want as many children and young people to enjoy the half term as possible. We’ve started working with even more providers this year to find something everyone wants to take part in or try for the first time.
We also understand that holiday hunger can be a big concern for families at these times, so we’ve funded a number of sessions where food is provided for those children who have free school meals.
All these sessions can be booked directly with our providers, so we encourage you to find out what’s happening in your area on our website.”
