Joint Local Plan Submission
On 31 March 2021, the Babergh & Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan was formally submitted to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government for independent examination.
The Plan was submitted in accordance with Regulation 22 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended) and Section 20 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended).
This part of the local plan process is known as Regulation 22 Submission.

Appointed Programme Officer
Annette Feeney has been appointed as the Programme Officer for the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan Examination. She will deal with all procedural, administrative and programming matters.
The Programme Officer is independent from the Councils and reports directly to the Planning Inspector conducting the Babergh & Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan Examination.

The examination has now started. Further details will follow in due course on the website. They will include the names of the appointed planning inspectors, examination documents, and an explanation of what happens next. The latter will include details on how you can participate.
Coronavirus (Covid-19) and Local Plan Examinations
The Planning Inspectorate have published advice on Covid-19 and local plan examinations.
Decisions about how to move examinations forward under the Covid-19 restrictions, are at the discretion of the Planning Inspector appointed to hold the independent examination.
Information about the Joint Local Plan Examination will be posted on the Babergh & Mid Suffolk Councils’ website. Any questions should be addressed to the Programme Officer for the Examination.
The Joint Local Plan – Pre-submission (Regulation 19) Consultation opened on 12 November 2020 and closed on 24 December 2020.
