Please note: There has been a change of venue for the Joint Local Plan Examination Hearings and a revised hearings programme.
The Hearing sessions will start at 09:30 on Monday 21 June 2021 at Ipswich Hotel (Old London Road, Copdock, Ipswich, IP8 3JD).
Further to the responses received regarding participation at the Joint Local Plan Examination hearings, the hearings venue has now been changed as of 28 May 2021. This was previously indicated to be a possibility, given the current circumstances.
A number of people expressed the wish to attend the round table discussions virtually. Taking this into account, the hearing sessions will now be blended; participants can either attend in person (in a Covid secure environment) or attend virtually (via Microsoft Teams).
Due to the number of people wishing to attend the hearings, the move to blended sessions, and the need to maintain social distancing, a change of venue was necessary.
Therefore, we have had to move the venue to the Ipswich Hotel, Old London Road, Copdock, Ipswich, IP8 3JD. There have also been some changes to the hearings programme, which can be accessed via this webpage. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience these changes cause but are confident that it will result in a better overall experience for all participants.
Please note the change of days (Matter 3 is now on Tuesday 22 June 2021 and Matter 4 is now on 21 and 22 July 2021).
Arrangements will also be made for people not participating in the sessions to observe/listen to the proceedings. These will be streamed live and further details about this will be published on this webpage in due course.
However, please be aware that, due to Covid-19, alternative arrangements may have to be made at short notice.
Covid-19 guidelines will be in operation, alongside any other guidelines that are specific to the venue.
The examination has now started. Inspectors Malcolm Rivett BA(Hons) MSc MRTPI and Alison Partington BA(Hons) MA MRTPI have been appointed to hold an independent examination of the Babergh District Council and Mid Suffolk District Council Joint Local Plan (JLP).

The Programme Officer is independent from the Councils and reports directly to the planning inspectors conducting the Babergh & Mid Suffolk JLP examination.
