Medical and clinical waste

Please note that clinical waste and needles must not be put in refuse or recycling bins.

Medical and clinical waste collections

We can provide a free collection service to residents who have clinical waste to dispose of. Those eligible are provided with a yellow clinical waste bin, which is collected on a fortnightly schedule by a dedicated collection vehicle.

We can also assist those who produce extra waste due to a medical condition, such as incontinence, by issuing a larger or extra refuse bin.

Before applying, please speak to your health care professional or hospital about your needs.

Sharps box collection

We can collect sharps boxes on an ad hoc basis.

Please note that we can only collect sharps boxes which are all yellow or yellow with an orange top.

If you have a sharps box of a different colour (e.g. purple), contact the health care professional who provided the box or your local surgery.
