Bulky item collections

If you are not able to get to a Household Waste and Recycling Centre or have items collected by a charity, we can collect and dispose of household items for you, except for DIY waste, fixtures and fittings (Including interior and exterior doors)

This service costs £40.50

This service is not a house clearance service. We will collect up to 5 separate items, or 10 bags of household refuse/garden waste. Our crews will not enter properties, garages, back gardens or sheds, so you must place your items in a place which is easy to access from the street. If you are unsure whether we will collect an item, we apply the logic of 'Would you take it with you if you moved house'. If not, then it will not be possible for us to collect that item.

All items must be able to be moved by one person and a sack barrow  or 2 people(So no items such as Pianos or Range type cookers.)

If you are a business, receiving our commercial waste collection service and require a collection, please call 0300 123 4000, choosing option 4 for a quote. If you do not receive our commercial waste collection service, we will be unable to carry out your request, this includes work carried out by a contractor and booked for collection from a domestic address.

Most items collected are sent to the Energy from Waste plant, but we do recycle items where possible.

Before contacting us, please note:

  • Items we collect should not be filled with other waste. For example, a fridge should not contain food
  • Carpet and underlay count as two separate items
  • The price and terms and conditions of this service are different for residents and businesses
  • Collections will not take place until payment has been taken
  • Requests and payments must be taken before 16:00 on the last working day before collection
  • Larger items such as Garden Swings/Swings and Trampolines are acceptable but MUST be dismantled. They will still count as one item.
  • We are unable to take Fridges or Freezers containing Ammonia
  • We don't know what time the contractor will arrive to take your items as it depends how busy they are, and how far they need to travel, each day. But you must have your items ready for collection by 6.30am on the day of collection

Recycle, Re-Use

We are happy to recommend Suffolk Age UK as an alternative option to our own collection service. Suffolk Age UK are able to provide a free service where they collect items in good working order such as furniture, white goods and small electrical items from residential properties, provided they have the appropriate fire labels, and can be sold on in their charity shops.

Remember, good quality furniture can also be re-used or recycled at any of the following:
