Apply for permission
As a Council tenant, there are some things that you will need to apply for our permission for, before you can do them. Your tenancy agreement contains the full terms and conditions of these permissions.
Please note that we aim to process all applications within 28 working days.
If you would like to keep any animal, bird or reptile at your Council home, you will need our permission.
Please refer to your tenancy agreement and our Pet Policy for the full terms and conditions. Permission may be withdrawn if we find out that the animal is causing nuisance, damaging the property, or is being mistreated.
We will not normally grant permission for a dog or a cat if it won't have direct access to, and sole use of, a garden (unless it is a guide or hearing dog).
If you would like to run a business from your Council home, you will need our permission.
We assess all applications on an individual basis.
If you would like to take in a lodger, or sublet part of your Council home, you will need our permission.
Please note: You cannot sublet your whole property.
If you have a garage, parking space, and or a driveway with a dropped kerb and pavement crossover, you are able to park a car or a small van without permission.
If you would like to keep any other vehicle at your Council home (for example, a trailer, a boat, or a caravan), you will need our permission.
