Register to Vote

You must be included on the Register of Electors to be able to have your say in local and national elections. Registering online is quick, easy and secure - don't lose your vote!

The Electoral Commission has information about voting.

It is important that you register as soon as possible whenever you move or if you need to make changes to your details.

The date that we receive your application to register determines the date that we can legally add you to the Register. There are updates to the Register each month, and there is also a cut-off date before each election.

If you are 16 or 17, you can register if you will be 18 within the lifetime of the current electoral register. You can vote as soon as you are 18.

You can register to vote if you are a British, Irish, Commonwealth or European Union citizen. Most people can vote in District, Parish/Town, County, UK Parliamentary and European Parliamentary elections and referendums.

You will need to fill in an application online with your name, address, date of birth and your National Insurance number.

If your don't have your National Insurance number or can't remember it, please go to Lost National Insurance Number before applying. 

Alternatively, you will be asked to provide proof through a photo driving licence or passport, along with some other details which may delay your application.

Once you submit your application online, your details will be sent to our office to be processed.
