Candidates announced for by-election in the Chilton (Stowmarket) ward

The Mid Suffolk District Council by-election will take place on Thursday, 2 May.

Nominations have closed for the Mid Suffolk District Council by-election in the Chilton (Stowmarket) ward on Thursday 2 May, and the candidates have been announced.

Following the deadline for nominations at 4pm on Friday 5 April, the following candidates have been nominated to stand in the by-election:

  • Lorraine Dawn Baker – The Green Party
  • William Howman – Labour Party
  • Steven John Runciman – Local Conservatives

Residents who aren’t already registered to vote will need to do so Tuesday, 16 April. They can do so via: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote 

Those voters wishing to apply for a postal ballot must apply for one by Wednesday 17 April. Applications can be submitted online via: www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/apply-vote-post 

If you would like to vote in person, you will need valid voter ID – accepted forms of ID are listed on our website. If you do not have an accepted form of photo ID and would like to vote in person, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April. You will need a recent, digital photo of yourself and your National Insurance number.

The election itself will be held from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 2 May, with the result announced on the morning of Friday 3 May.
