Needham Lake wins coveted Green Flag Award second year in a row

Needham Lake has been officially recognised as one of the country’s best green spaces for a second year running, after winning another prestigious Green Flag Award
The site, owned by Mid Suffolk District Council, is one of almost 2,400 in the UK to achieve the award in 2026.
Now in its 30th anniversary year, the award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
Cllr Tim Weller, Mid Suffolk District Council cabinet member for environment, culture and wellbeing, said:
“A consecutive win of this award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our public realm team and rangers in providing and maintaining this beautiful open space for visitors to enjoy.
“Our accessible free spaces for recreation, social interaction and wellbeing - which simultaneously support nature and wildlife – are something to be proud of.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
