New homes for council tenants in Bramford

22/07/25
Councillors were on hand to accept the keys to another eight affordable homes in Bramford this week, following on from 16 new-build properties received last month.

As part of Mid Suffolk District Council’s ongoing investment in affordable housing, four of the latest new homes in Loraine Way, Bramford, will be used to house council tenants, while the remaining four will be offered as shared ownership properties – helping low-income house-hunters onto the property ladder.

Cllr Richard Winch, cabinet member for housing and property at Mid Suffolk District Council, and ward councillor, James Caston, were on hand to receive keys from Matthew Dunlop, Bellway construction manager, and inspect all 24 new homes – consisting of a mix of one and two-bedroom flats, two-bedroom bungalows, three-bedroom family homes, and four two-bedroomed shared ownership flats.

The properties, all part of Bellway’s new development, have been handed over as part of a section 106 agreement – a legal obligation undertaken by a developer as part of the planning process to ensure affordable housing is provided alongside private sale properties as part of new, growing communities.

Cllr Winch said: “There is an ever-growing need for high-quality affordable housing within our district and these homes reflect our ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of those currently on our housing register and those struggling to buy on their own.
“I wish all future tenants and homeowners every happiness in these new properties and I hope they will be proud to call them home.”
