A temporary event notice (TEN) lets you stage an event for activities that would otherwise need a premises licence, on unlicensed premises. Premises licence holders can also apply for a TEN to temporarily operate outside the conditions of their licence.
These licensable activities are:
TENs are valid for events that last for no more than seven consecutive days and will have 499 people or less in attendance (including staff).
You can apply for a temporary event notice (TEN) if you are aged 18 or over. TENs need to be submitted no later than ten working days before the first day of the event. These ten days do not include the date you apply, or the first day of the event.

The application fee is £21.
In some circumstances, you can apply for a late TEN between five and nine working days before the first day of the event. These days do not include the date you apply, or the first day of the event.
There are some limitations to how many late TENs you can apply for per calendar year:
Late TEN applications count toward your overall number of TEN applications.
If you are staging an event where 500 people or more (including staff) will be in attendance, you may need to apply for a premises licence.
Our Safety Advisory Group (SAG) may offer you a meeting, to discuss the safety of the event. The SAG is made up of representatives from the Councils, the emergency services and Suffolk Highways.
