Tree for life Privacy Notice

This privacy notice explains how we use any personal information gathered about you, when you apply for a Tree for Life.

What information is collected about me?

When you complete the application form to apply for a Tree for Life, we will collect personal information about you and your family in the form of contact details including your name, address, telephone numbers, email address, child’s name and expected date of birth, adoption status and whether the tree will be planted as a memorial.

On the application form, you will be invited to give Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils explicit consent to hold and process your personal data, as required under the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

How do you collect this information and how do you use it?

In completing the application form and applying for a Tree for Life, you are giving Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils personal data covered by the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, as the registered Data Controller, will process the data under the lawful basis of explicit consent.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils require the information you provide, to determine your eligibility for a Tree for Life, and to contact you to make the arrangements required.

The information you provide will only be used for these purposes.

All your information will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations, and may also be used by us (and our partners) to deliver and improve our services.

General Data Protection Regulation

Any personal information we gather about you is processed under the terms of The General Data Protection Regulation and the Councils' Data Protection Policy.

Can I access the information you hold about me?

Under the Data Protection Act, you can ask us for access to information that we hold about you. This is called a "Data Subject Access Request".

It is best to request this information in writing. To help you, we have prepared a Data Subject Access Request Form that you can download and complete. You will be required to provide proof of identity.

We must respond to you within one month. If we feel the request is complex we may ask for an extension of this period.

If the information we provide to you appears to be incorrect, you must write to us, and tell us what information is incorrect and ask that it be corrected. If we do not agree that the information is incorrect, you may ask us to record your disagreement.

If you wish to complain about the way in which your request has been processed, your complaint will be dealt with as a "Step Two Complaint" in accordance with our Complaints Procedure.
